KNCCI offers the following services to the business community

Facilitating joint venture with foreign investors

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry stages business international forums in which prospective joint venture investors meet and negotiate for possible formation of joint ventures and other forms of collaboration. Over the years there have been a number of Joint ventures that have been formed through this initiative. We encourage investors both locally and internationally interested in the establishment of joint ventures to contact us for details. In connection with this we receive inquiries from all over the world of interested parties and we can easily match you up with them.

Writing projects and appraisals

The membership of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce ranges from small to large corporate organisations most of which do not have the capacity to hire expensive consultancy services to prepare projects for them. The KNCCI offers these services to them at a very reasonable fee. And in case of financial proposals once they seem fit to the appraisal of the Chamber experts, depending on the viability of the project we recommend them to reputable financial institutions for consideration. Our members and the business community in general is encouraged to contact us for details.

Staging trade fairs and exhibitions

Trade fairs and exhibitions have proved to be the best method of venturing into new markets or introducing a new product in a foreign market. While a manufacture can promote his new product in a local market easily from advertising in the media or direct distribution to supermarkets and retailers, it is different to venture into international markets. This is why each year KNCCI organises and coordinates various international fairs and exhibitions. We invite all business men and women to continually visit our website for updates on the soon coming events.

Providing business intelligence through our Business Journal, business opportunities publication “Ufanisi”, KNCCI library and our website: www.kenyachamber.8k.com

The KNCCI is the apex business organisation in Kenya with rich resources for trade and investment promotion materials ranging from our own publications and a collection from all over the world. We have a library in which all references to these materials can be done. Over the years this has been a vital tool for the Kenyan as well as international visitors to our reference centre. We wish to invite you to pay us a visit and benefit from the rich information available while you considerer bringing your advert to be incorporated in our next publication.

Developing an investment guide and data bank of raw materials for our members

The KNCCI has compiled a database of our members some of which contains confidential information about their businesses. This enables us to recommend them for joint venture and other forms of collaboration. We also have similar kind of database from international traders and investors seeking local partners. All interested parties in trade and investment are encouraged to contact us for details in the areas of their interest. Besides, we also provide counselling and guidance to start ups in both joint ventures and other opportunities available for investment.

Researching into export and Import opportunities available to members

Our research department collects data from all possible sources and determines the most suitable opportunities for local as well as international consumption. This provides quick access to highly needed information to specific investors or traders. This department also ensures that details of investment opportunities have been fully researched and their detailed proposals are available. In this department we have investment proposals ready for adoption in any area of interest to the investor. Those who have joint venture proposals are encouraged to forward them for appraisal and onward transmission to prospective partners.

Giving business start-up advice

The Kenyan government is keen about the creation of self employment as means to create occupation for the large number unemployed youth. In support of this policy the KNCCI established a special standing committee on Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE). The purpose of this committee is to oversee training programmes for capacity building in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector and Start Up counselling programmes for the Youth and Women wishing to go into business. This also includes retirees who have been given their golden handshakes and are not sure which business to start. If there is anyone who has not contacted us and is wishing to start business feel free to contact us for details.

Arbitrating disputes

Over the years the KNCCI has operated through a special tribunal which was once headed by the Kenya Government’s Attorney General Amos Wako. The main objective of establishing the tribunal is to settle trade disputes that involve both the local as well as international investors. This assists a great deal in minimising the cost and time of settling trade and investment disputes. We encourage all traders and investors who are in dispute to consult us for advice on the procedures of getting assistance through the tribunal.

Confidential Evaluation reports on contracts

The evaluation of reports on contracts is a vital service to traders and investors who wish to know if their contracts attain the international standards that can guarantee a hearing by the internationally recognised Arbitration or other legal systems in case of any one of the parties defaulting. To avoid disputes that disqualify proper legal systems to assist in case of default, we encourage our members and the business community in general to contact us for any further assistance.

Executive Training programmes

KNCCI is a member to a number of international research and analysis institutions that usually come up with very objective training programmes on issues that affect entrepreneurs in certain environments impacting negatively to their business. Together with our international team of experts, we organise workshops, seminars and conferences in which we try to equip our clients and members with possible remedial measures against anything which is negatively impacting on their businesses. The results have always been positive followed by smiles of success in overcoming the said situations. In this respect, KNCCI is seeking joint ventures from professional institutions to enhance its capacity to offer more advanced training courses. Check out for updates on our training schedules on this site or contacting us through the email, telephone or fax.

Business match making

In the world of trade, there is the element of dependence that requires certain special forums in order for it to be fully satisfied. A manufacture need a distributor, a distributor needs a wholesaler and the wholesaler need a retailer. All these are members of various private sector associations but each one of them pursuing a different objective. The KNCCI is the most neutral and ideal body that brings them together in various forums in which they interact and discover one another.

These forums include; Business dinners, Business Luncheons, Exhibitions, trade delegations among others. The KNCCI therefore, from time to time works closely with such institutions as the Chambers of Commerce, Diplomatic missions, trade unions and many more to jointly organise these vital forums.

Small and Medium Enterprise support programmes

The small and medium Enterprises (SME) sector is the largest employer in the private sector in most developing countries. At the same time it is the sector that attracts much attention in economic planning. However their management is the most difficult task ever. The main obstacle in this sector is that most of the businesses are conducted from temporary structures and most operators also live in temporary homes. Thus administration of sector becomes very complex because it is difficult to hold them accountable.

However through Savings and credit cooperatives formed through their own initiative, they can manage themselves. But still this does not guarantee accountability, because they are people who have not met most of their basic needs. For example, it is difficult for an SME to respect the business capital when he/she is being thrown out of the house due to rent arrears or there is no food or clothing for his family.

The KNCCI’s team of experts from time to time seeks to find support systems for this needy sector through closer partnership with membership organisations such as the  Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other international private sector development Association and many more. The purpose of collaboration with other organisations is to strengthen the Chambers capacity to offer more advanced support for the vital sector in the Kenyan economy.

Trade information Centre

The KNCCI receives and circulates various business data that is useful to the business community worldwide. Our members do not have waste their time trying to browse in search of business opportunities; they simply visit our website or call us. The Internet is full of data that is difficult to process and make use of it. It is also evident that most of the information on the web is obsolete. However ours is direct from a buyer or seller. We encourage you to take advantage of the KNCCI to market your products or find a suitable business partner by providing us with details of area of interest and joining the KNCCI as a member.

Writing introduction letters for business and visas

The KNCCI is the apex trade and investment institution in Kenya. We do introduce our members to the international business community by providing them with a membership certificate and a letter of introduction detailing his area of business and purpose of travelling. The introduction letter is a vital document to the international business community interacting with Kenyan counterparts and the diplomatic community for processing their visas to the destination country. Although not all missions are aware about this, many already insist for the letter of introduction from KNCCI. We encourage our members to obtain the letters and our international friends to insist on the letter to know exactly who you are dealing with.

Issuance of Certificate of origin

The KNCCI issues certificates of origin for Kenyan products destined for various export markets in the world. This is a mandatory document that has to accompany Kenyan goods on transit to any country in the world. There are different types of certificates of origin some of which are issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Representation and Protection from harsh or unethical trade/ industrial practices

As a member of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, you automatically join the international community of recognised business community. The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC) with its headquarters in Paris, France.

Besides belonging to the above mentioned body of the business community, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce provides you with the avenue of representation in all development forums as it partners with the Government in creating a conducive environment for you in doing business. Any obstacles you face should be made known to us and we deal with them on your behalf.
